FMCSA Pulls 10 ELDs From Registered List — Ohio Carriers Have 60 Days to Comply

On July 9, 2026, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) removed 10 electronic logging devices (ELDs) from its official registered list of compliant devices. FMCSA periodically revokes ELD registrations when devices fail to meet technical specifications or when providers do not maintain certification requirements. Under 49 CFR Part 395, only ELDs that appear on FMCSA's registered list may be used by drivers subject to the ELD mandate. Federal regulation gives motor carriers up to 60 days from the revocation date to replace a de-listed device with a currently registered, compliant ELD. The specific device makes and models affected are published on the FMCSA ELD registered list at eld.fmcsa.dot.gov.

Ohio motor carriers subject to the ELD mandate — generally those operating commercial motor vehicles in interstate commerce under Hours of Service rules — must immediately check whether any ELD installed in their fleet appears on the July 9, 2026 revocation list. The 60-day replacement window means the deadline to swap a revoked device falls on or around September 7, 2026. Carriers that have not replaced a revoked ELD by that date may be placed out of service at roadside inspection. Note that the 60-day grace period allows continued operation, but only if the carrier is actively working toward replacement — it is not a blanket immunity from enforcement scrutiny.
